#1 Mochi Ice Cream Kit: International DIY Food Kits From Japan
Are you looking for gifts for foodies who loved their trip to Japan and especially the food they tried while traveling? Or perhaps your foodie hasn’t even been to Japan, but simply loves Japanese food.
Either way, this DIY Mochi ice cream kit is the perfect gift for them!
For those of you who (like me) have no idea what Mochi ice cream is. It’s an ice cream ball that consists of an ice cream filling and a chewy outside made out of pounded sticky rice.
#2 Chinese Dumpling DIY Food Kits
I don’t think dumplings need any explanation, and to be honest, you don’t even have to be a foodie or a China lover, to love dumplings. So basically this kit is perfect for anyone!
#3 Whiskey And Rum Making Kit
Alright, maybe rum and whiskey aren’t technically food, but I bet many foodies love a good whiskey or rum too! And what’s better than a homemade one?
This Whiskey and/or rum-making kit comes with a cool oak barrel and spices and essences to make your own Highland malt scotch, spiced rum, or Kentucky bourbon!
In case you are looking for more international gifts for whiskey lovers, check out my list with 25 whiskey lover gift ideas!

#6 DIY Kimchi Kit
For the Korea lovers among us, you can now make your own kimchi with this kit that includes everything you need from a fermenting jar to an airlock and vegan kimchi paste!
For the others (like me) who have no idea what Kimchi is. I looked it up.
Apparently it’s a fermented condiment and often served as a side dish. Now you know too!
#7 DIY Sake Making Kit
This Sake making kit is a great gift to pair with the Japanese Kimchi Kit or the sushi kit that you will find later on this list.
Or by itself of course, because Sake is a cool thing to make yourself as well!
#8 Irish Stout Brewing Kit
This Irish stout brewing kit is not only a great gift for foodies who travel, but for international beer lovers as well!
Who wouldn’t want to try and brew a beer of their own, especially if it comes with all the herbs and spices need for an Irish stout!
#9 Homemade Limoncello Kit
I have shared this limoncello kit before when I talked about 25 awesome gifts for Italy lovers. But it also works great as one of the awesome international DIY food kits, though technically limoncello is not really food. But I guarantee it will be loved by traveling foodies nonetheless.
Plus, this thick icy cold liquid is almost like ice cream, so it’s almost food.
#10 Italian DIY Food Kits: Ravioli
If you were looking for real Italian food kits (and not drinks), I’ve got good news for you!
This DIY ravioli kit is perfect for the Italian food lover in your life!
And a bonus of giving DIY food gifts is the fact you may get lucky enough to try some of the gifts that you have given!
#11 Thai Curry Kit
I’ve debated for a while whether this Thai curry kit should be on this list of international DIY food kits since it’s not quite the most unique food kit. But then again, who doesn’t love a good Thai curry? Plus it comes in three cute bags, which makes it a cute gift to give anyways!
#12 DIY Halloumi & feta Cheese Kit
This DIY food kit gift combines two delicious international kinds of cheese! Halloumi is usually associated with Cyprus and Feta is a famous Greek type of cheese.
A great international gift, and of course a delicious gift for the cheese lover in your life!
#13 The best DIY Food Kit For Cheese Lovers
So the previous gift was already great for cheese lovers, as it combined cheese from two different countries. But this gift is by far the best thing to give to a cheese lover:
That’s a whole lot, plus it’s a total of 40 batches, meaning that they can make four batches of each cheese!
The different types of cheese included are:
- Scottish Crowdie
- Goat’s cheese
- Queso Blanco

This list includes quite a number of DIT food kits from Italy, and you know what. I am not even going to apologize for that.

#16 Belgian Goden Ale Beer Brewing Kit
In my post about the 15 best gifts for Belgium lovers, I already talked about how great Belgian beer is (in my humble opinion).
So of course, a DIY Belgian beer brewing kit had to be included on this list as well!
#17 More Japanese DIY Foods Kits: Sushi
How can I make a list with international DIY food kits, without including Japanese sushi?
It may not be a unique as the Japanese Mochi I talked about earlier, but it will sure make a Japanese food lover happy!
#18 Scottish DIY Food Kits: Steak Pie Kit
Next, you will find two international DIY food kits that are perfect for the Scotland lovers.
I’ll be honest here though, these are definitely not my favorite types of food and I do think some non-Scottish food lovers will agree with me.
So make sure you know who you’re getting this gift for!
The first gift is a DIY Scottish steak pie kit that includes everything they need for a classic Gravy Scotch Pie. And no worries if you are looking for a gift for a vegetarian foodie, there are also vegetarian options for the Scotch Pie.
#19 DIY Scottish Harris Kit
In my list of gifts for Scotland lovers, I also included this one, because well. It doesn’t get any more Scottish than that! And for the real foodies who love trying new things, I think this harris is a great gift!
#20 DIY Aztec Chocolate Kit
There is something they do with the spices that make this chocolate even better than regular chocolate and with this gift, your foodie who loves to travel can try for themselves.
#21 DIY Bagel Kit
This DIY bagel kit will give the foodie the opportunity to make those delicious mouthwatering bagels they always order for lunch, themselves!
Interesting side story on the bagel.
The reason why I initially included the bagel on the list of international DIY food kits was that I thought it was a typical American thing. I don’t know if anyone else shares this association between bagels and the US, but we’re wrong.
Turns out, bagels originated in Jewish communities in Poland, so nothing American about that. In case this is nothing new for you, please forgive my ignorance. At least I learned something new about the origin of the bagel today!
#22 Hot Sauce Making Kit
Do you have a spicy food lover you need to find a gift for? Check out this hot sauce making kit!
It’s perfect for people who can not get enough of chilies, they can add as much spiciness to their sauces as they like! Check out my chili lovers’ gift guide for more inspiration for chili lovers!
#23 DIY Pretzel & Beer Cheese Kit
This is a great DIY food kit for the Germany lover foodie in your life:
Yeah, that’s right, it’s a kit to make those yummy pretzels, but it gets even better and more German. It includes a beer cheese. How awesome is that, it combines two things many people love.
And I think it’s one of the most German thing to do, add beer.
Seriously, I feel like Germans find a way to include beer everywhere.
Sausage? Let’s add beer!
Breakfast? Let’s add beer!
Cheese? Why not add some beer?!
In case you are looking for more German gift ideas, check out my German gift guide!
#24 DIY Greek Yogurt Kit
So before I continue with this gift, let me share another interesting fact about the origin of this food.
Greek-style yogurt (such as this gift) is not necessarily a Greek product. In fact, the thicker and strained yogurt (which is what most people consider to be Greek yogurt), is made across the globe and was probably not even invented in Greece. It’s basically a commercialized term.
That having said, it’s still cool to be able to make your own yogurt, and since it includes the word Greek, I figured it was worth a spot on this list anyways.
I even included it on my list of awesome Greek gifts, so I have to ask you again to forgive me for my ignorance.
#25 International DIY Food Kits From Spain: Paella
Last, but definitely not least, a DIY paella kit that even includes a beautiful pan to prepare that delicious Spanish dish!
